The mission of the Youth Education Program is to create awareness and provide helpful information about Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome to adolescent girls. It is imperative that we provide further education to young females about this syndrome, as statistics show that and estimated 11-26% of females with PCOS are in their adolescent years. This information is intended to aid young girls in identifying the signs of puberty from abnormal hormonal changes that may be indicators of PCOS, such as abnormal menstrual cycles, acne, Hirsutism (excessive hair growth all over the body), and male pattern baldness. The goal of the Youth Education Outreach Program is to encourage youth girls who experience PCOS symptoms to seek medical attention in order to reduce current symptoms and future complications of PCOS.
